ReardonSmith Landscape have  been appointed to create landscape proposals for the re-development of the Marsh Mills Site in Temple quarter, Bristol. The aspiration is to create a high quality external environment for a student residence, which will also inspire future developments and public realm improvement schemes, acting as a catalyst to fulfill strategic plans to connect high quality public realm together, to join the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone.

The design is inspired by the post industrial aesthetic of the area and nature’s ‘re-wilding’ of the site. The proposals include a series of roof gardens and terraces, and a new public realm landscape will overlook the waters edge and provide a generous external space in which students can study and socialise. High quality finishes and detailing referencing the industrial past and historic cattle market, combined with a naturalistic biodiverse planting palette will create a robust and legible character.
