ReardonSmith Landscape were appointed to develop a series of soft landscape planting designs to complement and enhance new architectural and hard landscape interventions making up the public realm of this shopping outlet near Frankfurt.

Plants proposed were carefully reviewed to ensure their suitability for the region’s climate and the site’s microclimate. The hardiness rating of each species was used as an indicator to inform the process. The planting palette chosen seeks to create a strong evergreen structure as a constant backdrop to other plants selected for individual seasonal characteristics, to create a colourful and texturally interesting effect throughout the year, for the different streets and plazas which make up the shopping complex.

The planting design seeks to afford a varying character for these different areas to aid wayfinding and create a pleasant and memorable visitor experience.
