Marsh Mills, Temple Quarter, Bristol
Re-development of the site aims to create a high quality external environment for the student residence, provide an opportunity to improve the public realm in the immediate area adjoining the site, and act as a catalyst for extending future strategic improvements further north to connect with Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone.
The design is inspired by the post industrial aesthetic of the area and nature’s ‘re-wilding’ of the site to propose a series of roof gardens, terraces and a new public realm landscape overlooking the waterside location for students to study and socialise in generous external space. High quality finishes and detailing referencing the industrial past and historic cattle market combined with a naturalistic biodiverse planting palette will be employed to create a robust and legible character.
