Regent Porto Montenegro
ReardonSmith Landscape, inspired by a classic Italianate style, designed the central gardens, courtyards and public realm colonnades, with a contemporary twist. Within the central ‘Italian Garden’ courtyard, a series of private garden terraces can be reached via stepping stones over water rills with arched fountain jets and reflective pools inspired by the Italian water gardens of Villa d’Este.
A carefully considered coastal Mediterranean planting scheme softens the formality of the garden with large mature evergreen trees placed in pots, all sited to coordinate with the beams and columns of the underground car park below. Formal archways are covered in jasmine blossom, and fragrant herbs such as thyme, lavender, oregano, sage and mint not only add to the enjoyment of the gardens, but are ingredients in the hotel’s cocktails. A further roof top kitchen garden provides a plentiful supply of fresh aromatic herbs for inclusion within the hotel restaurant dishes.
