Park City, Moscow
The 17ha site is situated at a prominent location adjacent to the presidential palace in the centre of Moscow. A new standard of public realm for Moscow was proposed, informed by the architectural massing and axial relationships proposed by KPF, to create grand tree lined boulevard with active retail edges, an informal linear park ‘The Diagonal’ which respected the renovated historical brewery building, both cumulating at a new public plaza at the centre of the site. Private pedestrian alleyways led from the main street to private courtyard gardens with a new school, retail and leisure facilities. The detailed design of the landscape and public realm acted 'as the glue to the development' and was coordinated with seven different building architects; Arcovento, Brisac Gonzalez, KPF, Leo A Daly, Mosproekt-2, Nabil Gholam, Rafael Vinoly, Swanke Hayden Connell, V3.
